This art-deco building dates back to 1933 and houses the Atwater public market.  Downstairs, you will find  flower, cheese, fruit and vegetable vendors.   The second story is lined with a dozen butchers and one notable bakery.  Look for seasonal specialties during holidays, planting and harvest seasons.   The Hall above the market used to accommodate up to 10,000 people for political rallies and sporting events.

Two destinations not to be missed: Montreal's best stocked spice shop:  Les Douceurs du Marché.   Here you will find a vast assortment of hard-to-find gourmet and ethnic items, including an entire wall of hot sauces and incredible oils.

Upstairs you will find one of the city's best bakeries: le Premiere Moisson.   Take a number and while you marvel over the huge array of pasteries and cakes.
